When I ordered my first lacquer, I’ll be completely honest that it was due to an off-the-wall dare from one of my friends. Little did I know that it would turn into a small obsession.
If I had to use one word to describe the Gregory Porter release, it would be “life-like”. It is undoubtedly one of the most realistic sounding releases in my collection and has become the defacto reference for Mr. Porter.
As I have talked about in some of my previous videos, I have started ripping some of my collection to digital to use as comparison against the digital releases, but mostly just to listen since some of the albums simply aren’t available on digital.
Needledrop!?
For those that are wondering, here is a 30 second needle drop from the Supersense release from the first track “Don’t Lose Your Steam”. It is in 192k 24 bit flac, so feel free to download.
Turn it up, have a good listen, and compare it to the same track from his “Take Me to the Alley”. It’s amazing the difference. Yes, I understand that one is a studio release while the other a live performance. But spare that and listen to the tonality of his voice.
For those that are inclined, below is the full video of my review. I am really looking forward to sharing more needledrops in the near future!
